New Futures Program

The New Futures Program is a scholarship initiative by Empower Africa that supports students attending day high schools in rural Kenyan villages. These are not boarding schools—students return home each evening and often walk long distances each day just to attend class. In regions where secondary education isn’t free—and many families can’t afford the cost—New Futures steps in to ensure that bright, hardworking teens don’t miss out on school simply because of financial hardship.

The New Futures Program changes that. We provide full high school scholarships and walk with each student through their entire journey—covering tuition, supplies, meals, mentorship, and more.

How it works

Simple Steps. Lasting Impact.

Step 1
We Identify the Need
We work with local principals, chiefs, and trusted community leaders to identify students in urgent need—those who are bright, motivated, and at risk of dropping out because their families lack the resources to support their education.
Step 2
Match with a Sponsor
Each student is paired with a sponsor who makes it possible for them to stay in school and succeed. Some sponsors give monthly, some yearly, and others cover a student’s entire education.
Step 3
Provide Comprehensive Support
Sponsorship covers everything a student needs to thrive: • Full school uniform and shoes • Textbooks and school supplies • Daily lunch at school • School fees • Mentorship and encouragement • Educational trips to other parts of the country
